Are you passionate about shaping places, delivering sustainable growth and influencing how communities develop for future generations?
We are seeking a motivated and talented planner to join Swansea Council’s high performing Planning Service to help devise and deliver our forward planning ambitions and development agenda.
The role offers the opportunity to work as part of a friendly and dynamic team on a wide range of planning work, including helping to produce the new Local Development Plan. You will also undertake research and analysis, produce development strategies, engage with residents and developers, collaborate across Council teams and with partner organisations, and provide professional planning advice on a wide range of land-use and development matters.
Swansea is located at the heart of the south west Wales national growth area, and you will have the opportunity to work on projects of local and regional significance, helping to address challenges such as housing delivery, economic growth, environmental sustainability and infrastructure planning, all as part of supporting the Council’s long-term vision for placemaking and regeneration.
We are looking for a qualified planning professional with a degree in Planning or a related discipline, together with relevant experience in the planning sector. Membership of, or a commitment to working towards membership of, the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) is required. In return, we offer a supportive working environment, opportunities for professional development, flexible working arrangements and the chance to make a real impact on the future of our City and County.
If you are an enthusiastic and forward-thinking planner looking to develop your career in a progressive local authority, we would love to hear from you.
Full details of the post duties and responsibilities can be found within the Job Description. This permanent full-time role offers flexible and agile working to support work life balance, generous annual leave, and a pension scheme.
