We are looking for someone to #Join Us as a Systems Development Supervisor in our Digital Service Division. Could you be who we are looking for?

An excellent opportunity has arisen for applicants who are looking to lead a team within a specialist department working with technology in policing.

The Digital Services Division (DSD) serves both Gwent Police and South Wales Police and is charged with improving our services through the application of technology. The team is responsible for making the process of policing more efficient, effective, and better through the introduction of digital technology.

The Operational Systems team within DSD, which the successful applicant will join, undertakes support and development activities in relation to core operational policing systems, including Niche RMS, Command & Control, Digital Evidence Management Systems (DEMS) as well as increasing involvement in future emerging systems, ensuring that continuous improvement is undertaken in order to keep these critical systems up to date with the changing policing and technological landscape.

The Operational Systems team provide advice and guidance to business leads from both Gwent Police and South Wales Police, in order to deliver improved and efficient business processes, facilitated by the operational policing systems.

The role will involve liaising with suppliers, external stake holders such as the Home Office, Crown Prosecution Service, His Majesty’s Courts and Tribunal Service and Ministry of Justice, as well as liaising with counterparts from the other U.K. Police forces who also utilise the same operational policing systems.

The post is based at South Wales Police Headquarters in Bridgend but the successful applicant will be able to enjoy the benefits of the force smart working policy (further details available via the above hyperlink).

The successful applicant will lead a committed team of Police officers and Police Staff.

The successful applicant will be required to travel within the UK to attend various Regional and National User Group meetings, including some overnight stays.

‘In house’ development will take place, in order for the successful candidate to undertake administration functions in respect of the force operational policing systems, which is a requirement of the role.

The successful Candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to MV/SC Vetting.
