Join an international leader in technology services as a Unix/Linux Support Engineer, keeping critical systems running smoothly for a major defence programme. You’ll be hands‑on with Solaris (10 & 11, ideally 8 & 9 too) and Linux (Red Hat) environments, solving complex technical problems and making a real operational impact.

What you’ll do

• Monitor, maintain, and support Unix/Linux systems in production & dev environments
• Resolve incidents, service requests, and system alerts in line with SLAs
• Perform patching, updates, and routine system checks to optimise performance & security
• Troubleshoot software, hardware, and connectivity issues for end‑users
• Manage user accounts, permissions, file systems, and security best practices
• Write scripts (Bash/Python) to automate processes and improve efficiency
• Create and maintain technical documentation
• Provide on‑call support on a rota

What you’ll bring

• Solaris (10 & 11, ideally 8 & 9 too) + Linux Red Hat
• Scripting skills in Bash or Python
• Experience with Ansible, Docker/Mirantis/Podman, and VMware tools (VROPS a bonus)
• Strong troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and customer service skills
• Ability to translate technical details for non‑technical users
