Overview

Counter Terrorism Policing Wales (CTPW) invites applications for the position of IT Manager. This role involves delivering system administration and technical device support for CTPW. Responsibilities include managing user accounts and group permissions to ensure appropriate confidentiality and accessibility of information. The role also requires providing technical support across a range of desktop, telephony, and server hardware systems.

Responsibilities

The software you will be responsible for administering comprises a combination of standard Microsoft applications and specialised policing systems, for which full training and awareness will be provided. You will manage the onboarding and offboarding of users across CTP-controlled systems, ensuring appropriate access and compliance with governance requirements. The successful candidate will take ownership of managing all outstanding requests and incidents, working closely with affected stakeholders and resolver groups to deliver effective resolutions in line with agreed service level agreements.

A key requirement of the role is the ability to communicate complex technical issues in clear, accessible terms, alongside effectively managing user expectations and building strong professional relationships, including with senior stakeholders.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team, showing initiative and the capacity to operate with minimal supervision.
  • Understanding of the policing environment and a proactive approach to applying skills and expertise to support the efficient and effective functioning of the department.
  • Welsh language ability level 2 is required.
  • Must successfully complete vetting to MV/SC and DV (Developed Vetting) Levels and an additional security induction process, including pre-screening checks of nationality and foreign connections.
  • British citizenship is required to undertake the further security induction; failure to hold citizenship will preclude application.
Additional Considerations

If you are subject to an ongoing PSD investigation, your appointment or placement in the role may be delayed pending an outcome. Whether the role remains open will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Location & Travel

The role is based in Bridgend; however, travel to multiple sites across Wales and the United Kingdom will be required, including occasional overnight stays.

EEO Statement

CTP Wales actively encourages those from under-represented groups to apply so we can achieve a workforce representative of the communities we serve.
