Cloud Engineer

Position Description
Help build and evolve the cloud environments that enable CGI's clients to transform how they operate. As a Cloud Engineer, you'll deliver and support private, public and hybrid cloud solutions across leading platforms, using automation and modern engineering approaches to create reliable, scalable services. You'll take ownership of technical challenges, contribute ideas that improve how we deliver and work alongside experienced colleagues across a diverse range of client engagements.

Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This is a hybrid position.

Your future duties and responsibilities
In this role, you will help deliver, develop and support private, public and hybrid cloud solutions across Azure, AWS, OCI and GCP environments. You'll take responsibility for technical activities across multiple client engagements, contribute to CGI's Global Hybrid Cloud management platform and provide high-quality support to clients and internal teams.

You'll also have opportunities to find creative ways to improve cloud operations through scripting, automation and repeatable deployment approaches. Working alongside supportive cloud engineering colleagues, you'll contribute throughout the delivery lifecycle while developing your technical expertise and helping clients achieve successful outcomes.

Deliver & Support:
Implement and support private, public and hybrid cloud solutions across client environments.
Develop & Integrate:
Contribute to the development and support of CGI's Global Hybrid Cloud management platform.
Automate & Improve:
Build scripts and frameworks that automate and integrate centralised infrastructure management.
Provision & Scale:
Create and maintain deployment blueprints that enable rapid, repeatable provisioning.
Monitor & Optimise:
Support capacity planning and operational reporting to improve service performance.
Engage & Resolve:
Provide high-quality technical support to clients, engineering teams and other stakeholders.
Collaborate & Contribute:
Work across ongoing client engagements, sharing ideas and taking responsibility for successful delivery.
Support Growth:
Contribute technical expertise to bids and opportunities alongside sales and client management teams.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
You should have a solid grounding in infrastructure technologies alongside practical exposure to public cloud environments, automation and modern engineering practices. You'll be comfortable taking initiative, solving problems and working across multiple client environments while collaborating effectively with technical colleagues, clients and senior stakeholders.

Strong core infrastructure knowledge covering compute, networking and storage.
Experience working with one or more public cloud platforms, such as Azure, AWS, OCI or GCP.
Knowledge of tools such as Ansible, Elastic, Kibana, Rundeck and Git.
Scripting capability using Python and/or Power Shell.
Knowledge of container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
Understanding of continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) environments.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with clients and senior stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and take ownership while contributing to a collaborative team.
Experience working in fast-paced environments supporting multiple clients.
A proactive approach to investigating and resolving technical issues.
Desirable experience
Five or more years of relevant experience in disciplines such as server virtualisation, Wintel, UNIX, SAN or networking.

Experience with virtualisation technologies including VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V.
Experience across AWS, Azure, OCI or GCP, including IaaS and PaaS.
Experience implementing monitoring solutions within cloud environments.
Knowledge of VMware SDDC, including vCenter, vSphere and vSAN.
Exposure to digital transformation programmes.
