Position: Reducing Reoffending Performance and Quality Officer

Overview of the role

The Performance and Quality Officer is part of a team of 2 to 4 PQOs working with individual LDU clusters to ensure performance and delivery to agreed targets. The role involves identifying local performance and quality issues, developing and implementing a programme of quality improvement, and supporting the division and HMPPS priorities.

Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance for delivery of effective practices across LDU clusters.
  • Support performance management and the implementation of performance plans within the division.
  • Identify opportunities for performance improvement and analyse trends within LDU clusters.
  • Develop and deliver a quality improvement programme for the Division.
  • Run improvement initiatives to address opportunities for performance improvement.
  • Collaborate with other PQOs to share best practice and maximise improvements in quality and performance.
  • Support continuous quality improvement and implement best practice initiatives internally.
  • Monitor compliance with quality systems and recommend action to maintain and enhance performance.
  • Write reports for management on contract performance and provide cost analysis where required.
  • Plan and organize information for SLA review meetings and monitor action logs.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and influence decision makers.
  • Maintain effective communication with project stakeholders and manage a programme of complementary projects.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience of performance management, problem‑solving, analytical and outcome‑focused techniques.
  • Operational experience of working in a probation setting.
  • Experience of quality systems and implementing quality improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain information and administrative systems including databases.
Technical Requirements
  • NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in a relevant subject (or appropriate practical experience).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint) or equivalent.
Language Skills

Welsh language skills for this post are desirable.

Working Arrangements & Further Information

The role is based in the UK and can work in a hybrid arrangement where business need allows. Standard full‑time working hours are 37 hours per week excluding unpaid breaks. The position may also consider part‑time, flexible and job‑sharing working patterns where they meet the demands of the role and business needs.
