Job Advert Description
An opportunity has arisen within Counter Terrorism Policing Wales (CTPW) for an Intelligence Development and Investigation Officer to join the dynamic and evolving area of Counter Terrorism investigation.
The successful candidate will support the UK Counter Terrorism Network through the effective coordination of CTPW activity, as tasked in support of the UK’s Counter-Terrorism Strategy, the National Police Counter Terrorism and Extremism Control Strategy and Regional Control Strategy with the aim of deterring, detecting and disrupting acts of terrorism and extremism.
They will also:
- Support the delivery of the CONTEST strategy across Wales by proactively identifying and pursuing opportunities to gather intelligence on subjects of interest and emerging threats to national security.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of investigative strategies in support of Counter‑Terrorism operations.
- Act as a liaison officer between Counter Terrorism Policing and local Basic Command Units (BCUs) across the South Wales area.
- Prepare and deliver high-quality intelligence products that clearly and accurately inform decision making in relation to threat, risk and harm to national security.
- Conduct briefing, tasking, and debriefing of individuals in a structured and professional manner, ensuring activity is intelligence‑led and contributes to organisational objectives.
- Undertake and successfully complete all training required to perform the role effectively, including specialist training in areas such as forensic management where appropriate.
Training for this role will involve attendance on a range of courses across the UK, which may last up to one week at a time. The position also requires travel throughout Wales, and on occasion, across the UK. As such, regular periods away from home can be an inherent part of the role, and applicants must be able to accommodate this requirement.
Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate will also be required to work extended hours during periods of high demand, undertake rostered and ad‑hoc weekend working, and participate in an on‑call rota.
This role is based in Bridgend.
This post requires the successful candidate to successfully complete vetting to MV/SC Level as well as Developed Vetting (DV).
Please note, if you are an internal candidate and subject to an ongoing PSD investigation, your appointment or placement in the role may be delayed pending an outcome. Whether the role is held open will be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.
As an equal opportunities’ employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons. However, Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates are currently underrepresented within the Force, and we particularly welcome applications from ethnically diverse candidates.
To support the ambition of a diverse workforce, South Wales Place is able to offer a Guaranteed Interview Scheme (GIS). The GIS is available for people living with a disability or who identify as ethnically diverse.
Employment within Counter Terrorism Policing requires applicants to undertake a further security induction for which British citizenship is required. Failure to hold citizenship would preclude persons from applying for these positions.
If you are currently involved in a current PSD Investigation, you will not be eligible to apply for this role.
CTP Wales actively encourages those from under‑represented groups to apply so we can achieve a workforce representative of the communities we serve.
We embrace diversity and welcome applications from everyone.#J-18808-LjbffrTo Search, View & Apply for jobs on this site that accept applications from your location or country, tap here to make a Search:
