We are looking for a full-time Custody Engagement and Diversion Keyworker to work within Police Custody Suites in Bridgend on a fixed‑term contract covering maternity leave. This vacancy will provide early identification and on‑the‑day support and engagement, triage and continuity of care, enabling Women and Young Adults to engage in wider community‑based support which addresses their individual needs.

This role is restricted to female applicants only in accordance with the provisions of the occupational requirement (Equality Act 2010, pursuant to Schedule 9, Part
1).

Key Responsibilities
  • Work within police custody providing early identification and on‑the‑day support and engagement, triage and continuity of care, enabling Women and Young Adults to engage in wider community‑based support which addresses their individual needs.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships within police and custody units promoting the service, and working with the police to divert women and young adults into the One Wales service.
  • Undertake cell sweeps and engagement with all women and young adults (18‑25).
  • Address needs including housing, substance misuse, health, finance, previous trauma, children & families, education, training and employment with the aim of reducing social harms and re‑offending whilst empowering women and young adults to reach their full potential.
