18.75 hours per week (part time – 2.5 days per week).

Due to further expansion in the Kinship & Permanence team, we have an exciting opportunity for a Supervising Social Worker to join our friendly and dynamic team.

We are passionate about achieving stable, loving, long‑term homes for children and young people. We support kinship carers through high‑quality assessments and comprehensive support packages, aiming for permanence through Early Special Guardianship Orders.

Responsibilities

As a Supervising Social Worker you will:

  • Complete well‑evidenced Connected Persons and Special Guardianship assessments and Support Plans in accordance with regulatory requirements; present them to Foster Panels and Courts on time.
  • Provide support, advice and guidance to kinship carers, and identify training, learning opportunities and commission specialist services when needed.
  • Work closely with Managers, other social work teams, the legal department and professionals such as education, health and housing.
  • Assist the Kinship Team and fostering service with duties such as duty rota, kinship service and fostering events, and support a wider context of ongoing service delivery.
  • Contribute to service development through communication and consultation with kinship carers and children in care, attending team meetings and training sessions.
Requirements
  • Qualified and experienced social worker with a proven track record in kinship care.
  • Demonstrable experience working with kinship carers, children/young people and families in a strength‑based and compassionate way.
  • Ability to greet customers in Welsh.
  • Enhanced Children and Adults Barred List criminal records check (DBS).
  • Valid driving licence.
  • Commitment to the council's Hybrid Working Policy.
