We are looking to appoint an advanced, highly skilled practitioner in our Consultant Social Worker post in the Early Intervention and Prevention Hub. This is a new post that has been added to our structure and therefore an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of best practice.

You will be part of the Early Intervention and Prevention Hub, delivering Social Work services to adults who have experienced a change in their circumstances that has affected their usual abilities to live independently.

The team provides a short term Social Work response, which focuses on outcomes for individuals, maximising individual potential and minimising risk to independence, with an emphasis on choice and control.

Using a strengths-based approach you will facilitate the provision of information, advice and assistance and access to services. You will ensure equity of access to tailored short-term enabling care and support for adults affected by disability and ageing. This service focuses on ‘What matters’ to individuals and carers, maximising individual potential and minimising risk to independence, with an emphasis on voice and control.

The role:

As a Consultant Social Worker, you will assume a leadership role contributing to the overall effectiveness of the Early Intervention & Prevention Hub.

There will be a requirement to contribute to service planning and service improvement, whilst providing expert advice on excellent Social Work practice to practitioners in the team. You will lead on promoting the professional development of colleagues including planning, coordinating and delivering team practice development and group supervision (e.g. action learning sets). You will be integral to promote BCBC Adult Social Care as a learning organisation.

The role will also require the post holder to conduct appropriate research to ensure that evidence-enriched interventions underpin Social Work practice; disseminating best outcomes and promoting innovatory, efficient and effective Social Work. The role will also ensure the delivery of proportionate, initial, time specific, strengths based, outcome focused assessments, enabling individuals to maximise their independence through a preventative approach and building resilience.

The post holder will demonstrate a commitment to inspire others to deliver outstanding Social Work practice, by leading and promoting the delivery of the highest level of practice skills and developments, through the ability to inspire and mentor the team to actively promote our ‘Strengths-Based Model of Practice-Working to Achieve Outcomes’.

There will be a requirement to:

Provide group supervision (e.g., action learning sets). Provide guidance, support, and mentoring to enhance the professional development of team members.

Hold a small caseload of complex cases which require advanced Social Work skills.

Development work and research that will contribute to the overall development of the team.

Performance management and quality assurance ensuring best practice, evidence-based decisions, adherence to legislation and BCBC processes.

Collaboration with health professionals and partner agencies.

In return we offer a supportive environment, regular supervision, appraisals, training and development opportunities.

The ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is a requirement for this post.

Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.

An Enhanced with Adults Barred list criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a requirement for this post.

A valid driving licence is requirement for this post.

The council’s Hybrid Working Policy applies to this post. This provides a framework for establishing how you will undertake working hours between your home and the office.
