As an Administrative Assistant with the Epidemiology and Environmental Health Divisions of the North Central Health District, you will be part of a dedicated team of public health professionals working together to support the mission of protecting the health and lives of Georgia residents in a variety of meaningful ways.

Job Responsibilities

Under general supervision, the Administrative Assistant for the Epidemiology/Environmental Health Division performs a wide range of clerical and administrative duties that support the office of epidemiology, community assessment, and research initiatives, as well as environmental health programs. Responsibilities may be complex in nature and include handling confidential information; managing communications; scheduling meetings; preparing and drafting documentation, reports, and presentations; maintaining program inventory;

supporting certification testing, contract management, and data tracking; and researching, investigating, or resolving program data or issues to ensure compliance with program requirements. This role represents the program/unit by providing information and assistance to internal and external customers and requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate multiple tasks effectively.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Research and compile information to prepare reports, documentation, and presentations; coordinate across programs to ensure accuracy.
  • Manage daily communications, including calls, emails, correspondence, and mail distribution.
  • Maintain office equipment and supplies, including annual inventory verification for supported programs.
  • Provide clerical support such as data entry, document processing, scheduling, purchase requisitions, travel coordination, financial reconciliation, and fee collection.
  • Manage the Epidemiology on‑call list, updated quarterly and as needed.
  • Ensure travel approvals are submitted by staff at the end of each month.
  • Submit purchase requisitions for supplies as directed.
  • Maintain spreadsheets and databases for data tracking and reporting, including required Environmental Health reports.
  • Support meetings by preparing agendas, materials, minutes, scheduling, and room setup.
  • Provide certification exam support, including scheduling, administration, grading, fee tracking, and reporting to the State EH Office.
  • Prepare and maintain digital files for annual contracts and MOUs, ensuring required signatures.
  • Perform additional duties supporting section and district operations and collaborate across programs using evidence‑based practices.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma/GED and three (3) years of job‑related experience;
or one (1) year of experience required at the lower‑level Admin Assistant 1 (GST
050) or an equivalent position.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree from an accredited college.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Awareness of HIPAA Privacy Rules and confidentiality standards.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a professional and positive attitude when interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
