Grant Development Coordinator

Salary Range: $75,

General Statement Of Duties

Responsible for assisting the Deputy Grants Director with successfully coordinating pre-award operations related to private, state, and federal funding sources for Bridgeport Public Schools.

Reporting to the Deputy Grants Director, the Pre-Award Coordinator’s tasks will include but are not limited to continuous searching, pitching, and distributing applicable grant opportunities to internal participants and locating and matching external collaborative partners acting as or becoming the subject matter expert on specified topics for completing grant applications; initiating research, interviewing, meeting as necessary to generate application content for current and new programs;

responsibility for writing/co‑writing and/or coordinating content for grant applications. This coordinator works collaboratively with central office leadership, school administrators, and external partners to identify grant opportunities, write proposals, collaboratively develop budgets, and manage and complete reporting and accountability measures for entitlement and competitive grant opportunities.

This position requires strong knowledge and proficiency in grant writing, writing and management, and project coordination. The ability to work both independently and collaboratively is essential, as the role involves managing multiple, deadline-driven tasks across departments and stakeholders.

Responsibilities Grants Development
  • Using financial need(s) guidance, research funding opportunities for current and proposed district-wide, school-specific, and externally partnered collaborative projects and programs
  • Maintain a funding opportunity repository and track deadlines for assigned grant portfolio
Grant Applications
  • Partner with Grants Development and Management staff to identify proposal elements (e.g., budget, data, resumes, etc.) and gather and produce elements of applications proposals
  • Develop internal proposal templates and grant submission schedules
  • Schedule, initiate, and/or attend proposal planning meetings and document discussions
  • Become a subject matter expert through personal experience or research, content interviews, and position shadowing for grant applications
  • As necessary, transcribe discussion(s), utilize previously developed content, and/or author original content for grant applications
  • Complete final proposal drafts for submission
  • As required, aid with proposal revisions and requests for additional information for submitted grant applications
  • Enter and update information in the district’s grants management system
  • Departmental and Systems Administration
  • Perform other duties, including special projects and ad hoc reporting, as assigned by the Deputy Grants Director
Minimum Qualifications Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities
  • Exceptional track record of successful, on-time grant application submissions that have resulted in a high percentage of awards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills required to communicate effectively with all levels of internal and external staff and build relationships across multiple functions
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic and a track record of accomplishment
  • Outstanding diligence, plus the capability to read critically, understand, distill, and retain large volumes of information, handle confidential data, maintain records, analyze problems, and provide accurate guidance to help resolve day-to-day and/or extraordinary issues
  • Flexible team member with terrific organizational and time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail with an ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Experience and Training Required
  • Master’s degree in Humanities (i.e., English), Social Sciences (i.e., Anthropology, Communications, Sociology) or a related field plus at least two (2) years of successful grant writing experience with federal, state, and/or private proposals OR Bachelor’s degree in Educational Leadership or a closely related field OR Ph.D. degree and record of…
