Shop Procurement and Inventory Supervisor

Safety Marking, Inc. ("SMC") is a fast-growing construction & service company with multiple locations and is headquartered in Bridgeport.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Shop Procurement & Inventory Supervisor to oversee our purchasing operations and inventory control processes. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies, maintaining optimal inventory levels, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring that all materials and products meet quality standards and are delivered on time. The ideal candidate is proactive, analytical, and experienced in inventory control.

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work can fluctuate, work week runs Monday through Friday and hours are 40+ hours per week.

Monday-Friday

  • 7:30am – 4:30pm
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage sourcing, negotiation, and purchasing of materials, equipment, parts and services across all locations
  • Enhance parts tracking system and create full inventory system (Binned, Counted, Tracked in Fleetio and Ensure everything is searchable by keyword & part #)
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Maintain accessories, supplies and replacement orders
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate stock without overstocking.
  • Use inventory management systems to track and forecast inventory needs.
  • Analyze procurement data to identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on procurement and inventory metrics to leadership.
  • Manage all warranty part returns to vendors
  • Receive, stock and manage inventory stock levels and perform weekly inventory tie-out
  • Develop and perform a weekly cycle count system
  • Work closely with mechanics to create a parts request and fulfillment system
  • Ensure proper stocking levels and reorder points are maintained and calculated accurately
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years of experience in procurement or inventory management
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and inventory management software (e.g. Fleetio)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
  • Certification in supply chain (e.g., CPSM, APICS, CPIM) is a plus.
  • Experience in construction and automotive/ truck part fields
  • Familiarity with lean inventory practices and just-in-time (JIT) methodology.
