This is more than another estimating position. The company is back filling a senior estimator who has been with the business for 25 years and is looking for the right person to develop into a future

The ideal candidate can price the work, understand how it will be built, develop Primavera schedules, identify risk and communicate effectively with both leadership and operations.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from plans, profiles, cross sections, bid forms and specifications.
  • Build estimates using labor, equipment, materials, trucking, subcontractors, vendors and production assumptions.
  • Create Primavera pre-award schedules covering bid strategy, phasing, procurement, MOT, milestones and project duration.
  • Develop Primavera baseline schedules following award for owner submission and project control.
  • Review subcontractor and vendor quotes for scope gaps, exclusions and schedule risk.
  • Participate in bid reviews and support the transition from estimating into operations.
  • Mentor junior estimators and progress toward estimating department leadership.
What We’re Looking For
  • 5–10+ years of heavy civil estimating experience.
  • Strong background in roadwork, sitework, paving, drainage, utilities, earthwork, concrete and subcontracted scopes.

  • Experience creating pre-award and baseline schedules.
  • Strong plan reading, specification review and quantity takeoff skills.
  • Understanding of equipment, crews, trucking, staging, traffic control, productivity, weather and sequencing.
  • Strong communication, accountability and commercial judgment.
Why This Opportunity?
  • Direct succession path toward Chief Estimator.
  • Opportunity to learn from decades of established estimating knowledge within the business.
  • Direct exposure to company leadership, estimating, operations and field teams.
  • Long-term opportunity to take ownership of the estimating function.
  • Established Connecticut heavy civil contractor with a strong project backlog.
  • $160,000–$180,000 base salary DOE
  • Performance-based bonus program
  • Premium medical, dental and vision coverage
  • 100% individual / 50% family medical coverage
  • 401(k) with profit-sharing contribution
