(10 month position) Salary $42,490
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:- In a City School, this position is accountable for full-day supervision of students assigned to in-school suspension for various disciplinary offenses.
- Works under the general supervision of the Principal.
- Collects and reviews assignments from teachers for students assigned to in-school suspension
- Briefs students on rules and procedures for in-school suspension
- Distributes work assignments and assists students as necessary
- Maintains discipline
- Distributes requests for assignment forms for the next day’s session
- Administers tests as necessary
- Summaries in report format student’s completed work and behavior for time served in in-school suspension Maintains in-school suspension library
- May supervise after-school suspensions
- Performs related tasks as required
- Associates Degree, the equivalent number of college credits or successful passing of the paraprofessional assessment examination
- Knowledge of the rules and regulations governing in‑school suspension
- Knowledge of the range of courses offered to the students
- Considerable interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated oral and written communications skills
- Considerable sensitivity to students and their problems
- Considerable ability to maintain discipline and refocus
- Experience working with students in a school environment that would provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties listed above.
- College training with courses in psychology, social work, education or other related field may be substituted for the Experience and Training on the basis of the fifteen (15) semester hours equaling six (6) months of experience.
