Overview

The Project Engineer will ensure safety, inspect plant systems, and support operations across multiple sites across Georgia, including Atlanta, Macon, Columbus, and others. Responsibilities include project management from design to implementation, structural design, plant troubleshooting, technical support for the SHE department, and related mining operation activities. Movement between quarries will be necessary on an almost daily basis. There will also be opportunities to interface with work in other areas of the Division.

What

You'll Do
  • Manage Design:
    Uses AutoCAD to perform design tasks and produce drawings. Coordinates with internal/external mechanical and civil designer resources as required.
  • Inspect:
    Provides field supervision/inspection services on construction projects. Performs post-project reviews to ensure key objectives, cost/performance improvements, and rate of return.
  • Prepare Bid Packages:
    Prepares bid packages for construction and manages construction contracts.
  • Provide Updates:
    Provides project updates to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress.
  • Represent the Company:
    Represents the company to industry associations, government officials, and public agencies.
  • Travel:
    Travel varies based on projects, up to 25%. Most travel will be in central Georgia.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    Other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need
  • Education:

    BS in Civil or Mechanical Engineering. Mining Engineering degrees considered with substantial civil/mechanical/project experience.
  • License:
    On the path to PE licensure preferred.
  • Experience:

    1-5 years of project management and related experience in a heavy industrial or mining environment. Familiarity with project management and engineering software tools, methodologies, and best practices. Recent graduates with substantial co-op or other work experience may be considered.
  • Project scope, budget, and timeline:
    Ability to prepare a project scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Technical knowledge:
    Competent knowledge of concrete and steel design, building codes, and construction practices.
  • Skills:

    AutoCAD and Microsoft Office proficiency; basic project management skills.
  • Leadership:
    Decisive, collaborative, and accountable; fosters innovative solutions.
  • Organizational and analytical skills:
    Clear goal setting, data gathering, and problem solving.
  • Communication:
    Strong interpersonal and written communication; ability to convey information clearly.
  • Safety:
