Join the REGISTERED NURSE - Major Surgery RN role at Smilow Cancer Hospital
. The RN practices professional nursing within the legal and ethical framework of the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act, ANA Scope and Standards, and YNHHS Professional Practice Model. The RN provides care that establishes therapeutic relationships, collaborates with the patient, family, and health‑care team, and delivers safe, patient‑centered outcomes.
- Utilize the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, ensuring evidence‑based practice and quality outcomes.
- Coordinate care delivery, transitions, and patient education while maintaining therapeutic relationships and cultural competence.
- Practice ethically, collaborate with peers and patients, lead within the professional practice setting, and maintain competency through continuing education and evidence‑based practice.
- Registered Nurse with current BCLS certification or obtain within one month of hire.
- BSN preferred; graduation from an accredited nursing program required.
- Licensed in the State of Connecticut; clinical specialty certification highly encouraged.
- Experience in surgical or perioperative nursing preferred; all RNs encouraged to advance through the SPIRE clinical advancement program.
Requires prolonged standing, walking, use of sight, hearing, and touch; may expose to infectious diseases and end‑of‑life conditions. Must lift patients ranging from 5 lb to 300 lb; moderate stress and risk of injury from patient care.
