American Traveler is hiring a Surgical ICU RN for a Level II Trauma Center requiring a CT or compact RN license and Epic experience.

• Surgical ICU (SICU) unit in a short-term acute care hospital with 426 staffed beds
• Level II Trauma Center
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 AM-7:00 PM)
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required, including float to Milford Campus
• Uses Epic EMR

• Active RN license (CT state or compact) required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of SICU experience required (2 years preferred; 1.5 years considered with Level I trauma or travel experience)
• Epic charting experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, IV therapy, arterial and central line care
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP and ventilator management
• Experience with ETT and NT suctioning
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE use
• 1 professional reference required

• Provide critical care nursing to surgical ICU patients including respiratory and hemodynamic monitoring
• Part of the Yale New Haven Health System
• Free parking provided
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required, with religious or medical exemptions only
• RTO of up to 7 days can be auto-approved
• Former staff must be separated from the facility for at least 2 years to return as a traveler
• Local candidates not accepted if residing within 75 miles of the hospital
• First-time travelers not considered for this role
