MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required (if hired after April 18, 2019)
- West Virginia state and Federal criminal background check required for DHHR WV CARES regulated area.
- Valid WV driver's license, valid vehicle insurance and a reliable vehicle (exception for midnight shifts that do not require transportation).
- AMAP (Approved Medication Administration Personnel) Certified
- Six months of similar work experience in a human service or education setting
- Provides direct services to clients, maintains professionalism in communication and appearance.
- Creates and maintains an atmosphere of cooperation and positive attitude with clients, families, stakeholders, and associates.
- Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness and competence in following directions of behavior management, basic living skills plans or nursing plans.
- Exercises good judgment in making decisions that benefit clients while handling a variety of tasks with individuals with behavioral health problems.
- Accurately completes required documentation (progress notes, SALs, task analyses, observation notes) to fulfill program goals.
- Maintains all required documentation compliant with regulations and meets paperwork deadlines.
- Meets established productivity standards.
- Participates as a member of the program team in IDTs and the division community services team.
- Transports clients per Treatment Plan, Service Plan, and activity schedule.
- Hearing within normal range.
- Must be able to stand, sit, stoop, crouch, pull, push, grasp, and lift in order to perform duties.
- Frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and feeling necessary.
- Must lift, move, and position clients of all weights with varying assistance regularly.
- Must lift up to 20 pounds of force regularly; heavier lifting may be required for client homes.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
- Required to deliver services off‑site, independently and to transport clients to center programs or community activities.
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Accurately spell and write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively to clients and associates.
- Basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division in all units, whole numbers, fractions, decimals.
- Compute rate, ratio, percent; understand and use military time.
- Solve practical problems and handle varying variables in situations with limited standardization; interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, and schedule form.
- Be tactful and professional; sensitive to clients and families; respectful of confidentiality; follow standard practices and procedures with scheduled supervision.
