EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

• Current Licensed Practical Nurse license issued by the state where services will be provided or current multi‑state LPN license via the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact.
• Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.

• Provides direct nursing care to patients in an outpatient medical office setting.
• Uses standards of care and practice to guide care delivery.
• Accurately and safely administer intramuscular, subcutaneous, and oral medications as ordered.
• Consults with the provider or registered nurse to seek guidance as necessary.
• Obtains instruction and supervision as needed when implementing nursing techniques.
• Performs designated therapeutic procedures to patients as needed.
• Accurately observes, records and reports patient concerns, symptoms, reactions and progress to the provider promptly.
• Assists providers and registered nurses with examinations and procedures as assigned.
• Utilizes supplies cost‑effectively to help contain patient costs.
• Provides emotional support to patients and/or families.
• Participates in problem solving and decision making in the outpatient unit to ensure staffing and patient needs are met.
• Obtains medical information, takes vitals and screens patients for complaints, records data in the medical record and communicates it to the physician.
• Works closely with office assistants and physicians to facilitate patient visits, ensures charts are available, escorts patients to exam rooms and assists with scheduling when necessary.

• Heavy/hard work: requires strength and stamina, lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, positioning patients, standing, walking; carrying patients, materials and equipment up to 40+ lbs. Performed daily.

• Standard clinical environment with a very high volume of patients. Frequent exposure to blood borne pathogens, bodily fluids, toxins and chemicals.
