LPN – Licensed Practical Nurse (Outpatient)
United Hospital Center is seeking an LPN to provide nursing support in an outpatient setting, serving as the primary medical contact to screen patients, deliver direct nursing care, and assist providers in examinations and procedures.
Responsibilities- Provide direct nursing care to patients in an outpatient medical office setting.
- Use standards of care and practice to guide care delivery.
- Accurately and safely administer intramuscular, subcutaneous, and oral medications as ordered.
- Consult with the Provider or registered nurse to seek guidance in delivery of nursing care, as necessary.
- Obtain instruction and supervision as needed when implementing nursing techniques.
- Perform designated therapeutic procedures to patients as needed.
- Observe, record and report patient concerns, symptoms, reactions and progress to the Provider promptly.
- Assist providers and the RN with examinations and procedures, as assigned.
- Utilize available supplies in a cost‑effective manner to help contain patient costs.
- Provide emotional support to patients and/or families.
- Participate in problem solving and decision making in the outpatient unit; ensure staffing and patient needs are met.
- Obtain medical information from patients, take vital signs, and record data in the medical record.
- Work closely with office assistant and physician to facilitate patient clinic visits; escort patients to and from exam rooms; assist with scheduling when necessary.
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided, or a valid multi‑state LPN license through the Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
- Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
- Work requires strength and stamina: lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, positioning patients, standing, walking; carrying patients, materials and equipment weighing 40+ lbs. performed daily.
- Standard clinical environment with a very high patient volume.
- Position frequently exposed to blood borne pathogens, bodily fluids, toxins, and chemicals.
We are seeking a compassionate LPN to join our pediatric care team. Pediatric experience preferred but not required; we are willing to train the right candidate.
