Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry night shift position requiring West Virginia or compact licensure and strong drip titration skills.
Responsibilities- Position is in a 29-bed acute care Med/Surg Telemetry unit with a primary cardiac patient population
- Patients include cardiac cases, post cath, AMI, post-op lung surgeries, respiratory failure, chest tubes, pacemakers, and post PCI
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6
- Night shifts are 12 hours with every other weekend required
- Required to float to any Med/Surg or Telemetry units as needed
- Unit uses Phillip monitors, and nurses must interpret their own strips
- EMR system is Epic and prior experience is preferred
- Cardiac gtt titration is required including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin, Nitro, and others
- No stepdown or art line management on this unit
- Royal blue scrubs are required
- Provide specialized care to cardiac and telemetry patients, including titrating cardiac drips and monitoring telemetry
- Float to other Med/Surg or Telemetry units as assigned based on patient care needs
- Participate in the holiday rotation schedule along with permanent staff
- Charge nurse present 24/7; charge nurse on nights may take patients
- Respiratory Therapy manages CPAP and BiPAP equipment
- Certified Nursing Assistants typically support the unit
- No false nails allowed as part of the dress code
- Travel nurses are integrated into the existing clinical team structure
- First-time travelers will be considered
- Active WV or compact RN license
- Minimum of 2 years recent acute care RN experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required
- Must be able to titrate cardiac drips and read/interpet telemetry strips
- Experience with cardiac/telemetry patient population required
- Passing an EKG test is required for consideration
- No prior permanent employment with WVU Medicine within the last 2 years if returning as a traveler
- Cannot work at any WVU facility for more than one year without a mandatory 2-year break
- Candidate must live at least 50 miles from the facility (no local travelers allowed)
