Job Description
American Traveler seeks an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night shift position utilizing Epic and requiring a WV or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Work in a hospital acute care setting on a Med/Surg unit
- Typical patient diagnoses include CHF, cardiac conditions, pneumonia, chronic renal disease, COPD, ortho, and oncology
- Patient ratios are generally 1:5-6, with rare occurrences of 7 patients late in some shifts, depending on acuity
- 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required
- Uses Epic for charting and Phillips for telemetry monitoring
- Royal blue scrubs are required
- Floats may occur to similar units or to Critical Care with assignment to med/surg or stepdown patients only
- All units have a charge nurse and use CNAs
- Orientation will be 1-2 shifts with a preceptor
- RT is in-house 24/7 for CPAP and BiPAP, with nurses expected to perform aerosols for non-vented patients and EKGs
- Must work within the holiday rotation alongside permanent staff
- No false nails allowed while on duty
- First time travelers are welcome
- Travelers who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have a 2-year break before reapplying and cannot work within WVU for more than one year without a 2-year break
- Active WV or compact RN license required
- Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg nursing experience required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips required
- Experience with EPIC charting system preferred
- Must not reside within 50 miles of the facility due to radius rules
- Copy of valid, unexpired driver's license required for consideration
