DePaul Hospital – St. Louis, MO. Position:
Registered Nurse (RN), Night Shift. 36‑hour week, 7 PM–7 AM. Sign‑on bonus up to $20 000 available for external candidates.
Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
Principal Responsibilities- Use standards of medical‑surgical nursing practice to increase quality of care and quality of life for patients, families and significant others.
- Establish effective relationships and serve as an advocate with patients, families and significant others to facilitate individualized care plans.
- Apply the nursing process to develop and implement plans of care, collect assessment data, determine appropriate nursing diagnoses, identify expected outcomes, implement interventions and evaluate outcomes.
- Develop assessment and management strategies that consider physical, functional, cultural, social, economic, developmental, spiritual, vocational and leisure dimensions.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the impact of illness and each patient’s status across all dimensions.
- Utilize leadership skills by coordinating and collaborating with the inter‑professional team.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families and other health‑care providers to participate in culturally sensitive, ethical, legal, holistic decision‑making.
- Educate patients, families and significant others about measures that promote health and comfort.
- Foster a healthy work environment by mentoring peers and being a role model.
- Implement evidence‑based practice and scientific knowledge in medical‑surgical nursing practice.
- Maintain constant alertness and safe practice.
- Perform point‑of‑care testing as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Graduate of an accredited nursing school or education equivalency for licensing. No prior experience required.
Physical Requirements- Constant arm usage, standing, walking, and frequent lifting of 0‑25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use.
- Frequent vision, depth perception and color discrimination.
- Frequent hearing and odor detection.
- Occasional lifting of 25‑50 lbs and patient handling.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and repetitive hand movements.
- Occasional driving.
- Basic Life Support – Health Care Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association.
- Registered Nurse – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
- For Missouri, Oklahoma, Wisconsin locations – equivalent RN license or Compact State RN license.
