Overview

The Rutgers Food Innovation Center (FIC) – South is a unique business incubation and economic development accelerator program that provides business and technology expertise to small and mid‑sized food and agribusinesses in New Jersey, and reaches the food industry nationwide. FIC offers extensive programs in training and workforce development, customized and comprehensive business and technical mentoring services, and a 23,000‑sq. ft.

USDA- and FDA‑inspected facility for design, development, analysis, commercialization, and manufacture of value‑added food products for retail and food service markets.

Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Administrative Assistant for the FIC – South. The position reports to the Executive Director of FIC, with direct reporting to the Business Manager. It will be physically based at the FIC facility in Bridgeton, NJ, and will liaison with other University units as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative and financial support at FIC Bridgeton and the Mass Spectrometry Lab (SEBS Campus), and assist with the Eco Complex location as requested by senior management.
  • Handle cash and credit transactions, financial data recording, journal reconciliation, facility events, payroll, and inventory.
  • Manage the Center’s purchases and accounting system using appropriate University procedures.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience, and a minimum of two years’ relevant experience in an administrative function.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment and close attention to detail.
  • Proven work record evidencing successful management of increasing responsibilities; ability to work independently and professionally.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of University policies related to Human Resources, Financial Management, Purchasing, Payroll, and Travel.
  • Flexible and willing to learn and grow in a fast‑changing environment.
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat and university software systems (e.g., Market Place, Oracle, Expense Management, HCM, I‑9, Paymentworks, Nelnet/Ancor).
Salary Details
  • Benchmark Salary Range: $52,602.48 – $57,863
  • Minimum Salary: $52,602.48
  • Mid Range Salary: $64,788.98
  • Maximum Salary: $76,975.48

Position Status

Full‑time; standard hours 37.50 per week; day shift; hybrid work arrangement may be available under Rutgers Policy 60.3.22.
