ResponsibilitiesThe GIS Field Technician is responsible for collecting GSP data points in the field, reviewing and creating maps, managing GIS applications, and maintaining a GIS database.
- Adhere to and promote company safety measures at all times.
- Collect field data points using a GPS unit.
- Work within the ArcGIS/ESRI platform and support third‑party design efforts.
- Operate mobile and desktop GIS applications.
- Provide field support for design to ensure compliance with company and contract requirements and support the overall construction schedule.
- Assist in developing and implementing field computer applications to facilitate control and collection of data for mapping (GPS, GIS, KMZ).
- Troubleshoot the ESRI platform and third‑party designers for anomalies.
- Keep GIS database documentation up to date and accurate.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications:
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with team members, clients, and management.
- Experience working in field conditions with varying weather.
- Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS software and geo‑database experience.
- Basic computer skills in AutoCAD, MS Office, and field applications for surveying and data management.
This position may require significant time standing or walking on uneven ground, climbing ladders or working at heights, working in tight spaces, lifting up to 50 pounds, and operating in all‑weather environments.
