AMI has an exciting leadership opportunity available for MRI Technologists:
Regional Chief MRI Technologist. This management position will focus on the oversight of MRI clinical operations in the North region of offices, including Vineland, Bridgeton, Woolwich, Mullica Hill/Tomlin, Sicklerville, Deptford, and Glassboro.

Responsibilities
  • Oversees daily MRI operations across assigned locations, coordinating changes with the Senior Chief MRI Technologist and directing staff MRI Technologists.
  • Prepares and manages the monthly staff schedule, ensuring coverage for absences and reviewing time‑off requests.
  • Approves timecards according to AMI protocols and address attendance or tardiness issues.
  • Submits and maintains ACR certifications for all assigned sites.
  • Ensures MRI safety protocols are followed and staff are properly trained; confirm all locations have MRI‑safe equipment for patient care.
  • Reviews MRI protocols, policies, and procedures at least annually, and as assigned by leadership.
  • Collaborates on new policies and procedures as needed. Initiates new policies and procedures.
  • Trains new employees and provides ongoing education for current staff.
  • Addresses staff performance issues promptly and conduct annual evaluations.
  • Researches patient implants and assists staff in determining MRI safety.
  • Performs MRI scans as a technologist, including operating equipment, ensuring patient safety, and consulting with radiologists on protocols.
  • Works as a scanning technologist at least one day per week or more, as needed to support the department.
  • Provides coverage for other MRI regions when needed, working closely with the Senior Chief MRI Technologist and other Regional Chiefs to coordinate paid time off (PTO) and ensure coverage during absences. Submits time‑off requests to the Director of Imaging Services for approval.
  • Maintains availability outside of regular working hours to answer phone calls and provides assistance as needed.
  • Completes the daily work schedule and accurately document all required forms, worksheets, and logbooks.
  • Monitors patient flow, accommodates unscheduled patients and add‑on studies, and participates in rotation coverage to ensure smooth department operations.
  • Identifies and troubleshoots potential equipment malfunctions. Reports any issues to service personnel and, when possible, resolves system problems to minimize downtime. Notifies Office Administrators about maintenance, service, and repair needs.
  • Informs Office Administrators when non‑stock items need to be replenished.
  • Participates in office meetings, in‑service programs, continuing education, and other designated activities.
  • Performs any other duties as required and assigned.
Schedule

The work schedule includes Monday‑Friday, with day and evening shifts, and weekend availability. Schedules are subject to change based on business and department needs. The individual assuming this role will balance a clinical scanning schedule along with administrative responsibilities.

Qualifications

Candidates for this position must be a graduate of an accredited MRI program; registered MRI by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or ARMRIT. Current and valid American Heart Association (AHA) or Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required prior to start of employment. Candidates must have prior leadership experience and demonstrate leadership potential and abilities.

Experience with Fonar is a plus and candidates must be willing to receive Fonar training. Previous experience or certification in venipuncture preferred for the injection of contrast media via butterfly needle and IV catheter. If not currently trained/certified, must be willing to obtain. In‑house training will be provided.
