The Elementary and Early Childhood Education Department at Bridgewater State University invites applications for a full-time Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position for a generalist with specialization in science education to begin September 1, 2026.

Duties
The Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education is a student-focused community of teacher-scholars passionate about creating impactful learning experiences that prepare students for successful, joyful and sustainable careers in education.The successful candidate will develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in elementary and early childhood science education along with other education courses as needed, employing equity-centered, culturally relevant, and inclusive practices. The candidate’s expertise will support efforts to broaden participation in the educator community and, specifically, science education. The candidate will engage in school partnerships reflective of our clinical-based program.The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain an active education-based research and scholarly agenda in education, with opportunities for collaboration through university-supported initiatives and centers. The candidate will also mentor and advise undergraduate students, employing evidence-based strategies to support student success, including first-generation students, multilingual learners, students with disabilities, students who are LGBTQIA+, and those from a range of socioeconomic backgrounds as well as students from racial and ethnic groups historically underrepresented in science.
The candidate will also provide service to the department and institution through participation in our model of shared governance, which may include contributions to curriculum development and program assessment.Required Qualifications
A doctoral degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a closely related field. ABD candidates will be considered provided the degree will be completed by August 31, 2026.Two or more years of successful PreK–12 public school science teaching experience in urban or other settings serving racially, ethnically, linguistically, and socioeconomically diverse communities.Experience with culturally responsive and/or social justice pedagogies in educational contexts.Demonstrated ability or potential for advising undergraduate students using inclusive practices that support first-generation students and those from groups historically underrepresented in education.Record of, or strong potential for collaborating within a diverse faculty, staff, and student community, with the ability to contribute to a collaborative and inclusive departmental culture.Evidence of, or strong potential for sustained scholarship in science education, teacher education, early childhood, or elementary education.Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching undergraduate or graduate level courses in a teacher preparation program including NGSS-aligned science education.Experience supervising pre-service teachers in practicum or pre-practicum settings.Experience teaching across multiple modalities (in-person, online, blended/hybrid).Experience developing and/or sustaining school-university partnerships and/or Professional Development School collaborations.Expertise in developing science-related…
