Department Summary: English is one of the largest majors at Bridgewater State University, with twenty-five full-time and many more part-time faculty. It offers a rich array of courses and programs designed to give students broad introductions to the craft of writing and the study of literature, along with many opportunities for in-depth study. Topics range from Beowulf to the Beat poets;
from creative non-fiction to the teaching of writing; and from contemporary film to literature from around the world.

Job SummaryThe Department of English seeks qualified Part‑Time Faculty who are enthusiastic teachers and dedicated to working with undergraduates for the 2025/2026 academic year. Candidates must demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of students from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of abilities and must be available to teach in‑person on campus.
Courses include, but are not limited to, first‑year writing. Members of underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.

This posting is for potential part‑time, non‑benefited, day program faculty positions in the English Department. The current salary rate for a typical 3‑credit lecture course taught by a new part‑time faculty member is $4,005.00, paid through bi‑weekly payroll direct deposit. Rates may vary for other course types based on contact hour equivalencies.
