Job Description:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Funeral Service Instructor(s) will teach any one of the courses in the Funeral Service Program according to ABFSE accreditation requirements. The Funeral Service Instructor(s) will teach in-person from the Bridgewater Campus through hyflex technology (students in-person and via zoom simultaneously). Classes will be offered during the Spring semester (January 15 - May 15, 2026) on weekdays (Monday-Friday) at various times, including day and evening options.

EXAMPLES

OF DUTIES:

Provide instruction in both traditional and non-traditional learning modes.

Select and develop appropriate materials and technology for class use.

Assess student progress related to defined student outcomes.

Maintain appropriate attendance and learner records.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate of an ABFSE accredited funeral service or mortuary science program.

Bachelor's degree.

Maintain current and active licenses with Massachusetts's Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers as a Funeral Director and Embalmer if teaching in person or in your state of residence if teaching remote.

Three years of current practice experience in the field of funeral service/embalming.

Skill in implementing active and collaborative learning strategies.

Skill in measuring student learning outcomes and assessments, evaluating course efficacy, and improving student learning.

Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree.

Prior college-level teaching experience in an ABFSE accredited funeral service or mortuary science program.

Evidence of innovative use of evolving instructional technologies in the classroom, and use of learning management systems.

Experience, appreciation, and commitment to working in a global, multicultural academic setting and to the mission and the goals of a community college.

Anticipated starting salary - Step I DCE Pay Scale;
Part-time, non-benefited. MCCC Unit Position.
