Job Description

The Bridgewater-Raynham Regional School District is hiring two Education Support Professionals (ESP) for the high school.

Applicants with CNA experience preferred!

CNA certification or relevant healthcare/personal care experience is preferred, particularly for positions that may involve assisting students with personal care needs, toileting, changing, or other health-related support. Candidates with experience working with children, individuals with disabilities, or in educational, healthcare, or behavioral settings are encouraged to apply.

General

Job Description:

  • Working with students on IEP goals
  • Monitoring and documenting student progress
  • Regular communication with the classroom teacher(s) and/or service providers
  • Reinforce learning or skills initially outlined by the lead teacher
  • Follow instructions on behavioral and educational accommodations
  • Follow behavior intervention plans as directed
  • Record/collect student data in collaboration with special education teachers and service providers
  • Accompany students to snack, recess, lunch and specialists
  • Report academic and behavioral issues to lead teacher
  • Assistance with student personal care including toileting, changing etc.
  • Motivates students with positive reinforcement and follows behavior support plans
  • Implement de-escalation strategies to resolve behavioral issues or conflicts in an effort ensure safety
  • Understand boundaries, confidentiality, and diplomacy with students, colleagues, families and community members
  • Other duties as assigned or needed

ESP responsibilities can be dependent on the type of classroom an employee is assigned to. Certain responsibilities specific to substantially separate classrooms are listed below.

Substantially Separate Classroom

  • Ability to communicate clearly to various groups of education professionals including but not limited to Special Education Teachers, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists, and Administration
  • Complete job tasks with sensitivity and confidentiality to students
  • Ability to report data and work orally or in writing as needed
  • Restrain students during certain behavioral outbursts (CPI training)
  • Toileting/changing tasks including full diapering

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing, sitting, bending, and lifting as needed
  • Physically assist students with behavior issues or daily living activities
  • Light to medium physical requirement

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred
  • Experience providing personal care or working with individuals with disabilities preferred
  • Experience working with children or in a school, healthcare, behavioral, or human services setting preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary educational team
  • Strong communication, patience, flexibility, and commitment to supporting students with diverse needs

** Please note classroom settings are subject to change and assigned to candidates after the interview process. Preferences on classroom settings will be taken into consideration during initial screenings. ESPs can be reassigned during the academic school year based on district needs at any point.**
