Title: Safety Health & Environmental Specialist
Location: Fortune 100 Food & Beverage Manufacturing, Fuse Global has worked with this company for 20 years
Initial term: 12 months (position expected to run longer)
Schedule: Mon-Fri 8am - 5pm
- Site SH&E Culture – under the direction of the Site SH&E manager, fosters/develops a culture where safety, health and environment are ingrained as a core value with all employees, where everyone believes zero harm is achievable, everyone is actively engaged in performing their work in a safe manner, and everyone actively interacts with co-workers to prevent at-risk behaviors.
- Develop lock out tag out (LOTO) control procedures, employee training, and periodic inspections in compliance with OSHA’s hazardous energy control requirements.
- Ensure thorough investigation of all incidents, in coordination with Safety and Health Site leadership.
- Coordinate/facilitate all safety, health, and environmental training for the site.
- Assist the site in maintaining ISO 14001 and 45001 certifications and daily implementation of those certifications.
- Coordinate risk assessment and safety inspections for non-routine and high-hazard tasks involving contractor/vendor management.
- Effectively coach and develop line supervision to be effective SH&E leaders/coaches in their respective positions.
- Analyze SH&E conditions and behaviors and recommend changes to continuously improve Site SH&E performance to world class levels.
- Compliance – Primarily responsible for implementing systems, procedures, and work practices to ensure an "audit-ready" state of compliance.
- Develop and implement processes and procedures (SOPs) in compliance with company standards and regulatory agency policies (federal, state, and local legislation).
- Promote behavior-based safety (BBS) reporting and contribute to program improvements.
- Review, analyze, critique and/or approve engineering design development reports, plans, and specifications for compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in environmental and/or safety subject area or related fields or years of experience preferred.
- Experience:
2-3 years’ experience coordinating Safety, Health, and Environmental sustainability activities in a manufacturing setting. - Experience with OSHA, DOT and EPA regulations and local equivalents and their application to site operations.
- Professional certifications in SH&E related fields are beneficial and may include ASP, CSP, GSP, CIH.
Skills: Excellent interpersonal interactions; ability to build teams at all levels and functions with respect, tact, and impactful outcomes; ability to analyze data using Excel and/or Power BI; machine guarding and dust assessment knowledge; decisive decision-making in routine and emergency situations; excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to relate to audiences with diverse backgrounds; strong insight to develop mutual solutions.
