Job Overview
This actuarial position will play an integral role on the Risk Solutions pricing team within Retirement Income Solutions (RIS). The Risk Solutions business has a wide variety of products, including Specialized Benefit Resources, Post Retirement Benefits, and UK Reinsurance.
The successful candidate will report to the VP Risk Solutions Pricing lead and support the quantitative analysis in underwriting, pricing, and closing in alignment with Met Life’s enterprise strategy. This is a visible role for senior leaders within the RIS Leadership Team and other business & corporate functions, allowing opportunities to influence management decisions and drive results.
This role will lead the pricing across the Specialized Benefit Resources and Post Retirement Benefits products, focusing on pricing COLI, BOLI, and Retiree Life buyout transactions. It will work closely with all RIS business and functional partners, including actuarial, investments, operations, legal, risk and finance. The candidate will help create value to RIS through new business pricing with their skillset to evaluate and price risk with appropriate returns and will use their leadership skills to guide and manage a small team of actuaries.
Key Responsibilities- Financial modeling of liability cashflow, reserve, asset return, capital projection, and risk sensitivities
- Analysis of pricing metrics including return on investment, value of new business, and capital deployed
- Support the pricing strategy and collaborate with business leaders at pricing governance meetings
- Manage multiple transactions at once and communicate expectations clearly with internal stakeholders
- Lead a team of actuaries and utilize their skillsets effectively to meet client timelines
- Enhance pricing models to create efficiencies within the pricing tools and process
- Underwriting, including using a predictive mortality model and deal‑specific mortality experience analysis
- Presentations and discussions with key stakeholders to agree on mortality assumptions
- Partner closely with business lead, R&D team, investments, finance, risk, legal, and other corporate functions to structure deals to optimize profitable opportunities for Met Life
- Strong presentation and written communication skills
- Analytical, financial modeling and problem‑solving skills
- Leadership qualities to guide and manage a team of actuaries
- Ability to operate effectively in a highly‑matrixed environment
- 7+ years of experience in insurance and/or reinsurance
- Fellow of the Society of Actuaries
- Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, math, statistics, economics, or related discipline
- Experience pricing COLI, BOLI, or other long‑term group life policies
- Experience underwriting group mortality risk
Hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.
Salary range: $137,000 - $182,600 per annum. The role may also be eligible for annual short‑term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
