Operates a computer to draw and layout a graphic display of parts to be cut in optimum arrangement (nest) and generates computer files for Laser and/or water jet to cut metal parts.
- Reviews shop orders to determine job specifications and nesting requirements.
- Reads and interprets work orders, blueprints, sketches, product specifications, or oral instructions.
- Operates computer commands to retrieve stored parts data and graphic displays, such as simulated patterns or templates, and displays.
- Manipulates parts images on a computer screen into the optimum arrangement. Enters commands to title and store layouts in computer memory and to build and maintain source files; regularly backs up data.
- Draws parts from blueprints or specifications using CAD or a digitizer.
Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, blueprints, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Calculate various quantities such as percentage, area, circumference, and volume. Apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
Working knowledge of industrial metal types and characteristics. and able to use all types of forklifts.
Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
