Department SummaryThe Winter Science Academy offers a one‑week science class for students in grades 6‑8. This unique program allows students to work as scientists and is designed to inspire students about science while providing them with the foundations necessary for further scientific exploration. Winter Science Academy students are immersed in science courses and conduct hands‑on investigations in their class. In addition, the class will focus on the importance of science communication.
Class runs from February 17–20, 2026.
CASE is looking for a qualified individual to act as the Winter Science Academy (WSA) Nurse to serve two roles:
- The WSA Nurse will review online medical records prior to the start of the program for accuracy and up‑to‑date vaccination records and address any concerns with parents and CASE administrators. The maximum number of hours for medical review is 8 hours. Medical review will start at or around January 26, 2025 and continue until program start with flexible, remote hours.
- The Nurse will be required to be on call during the 4‑day program (February 17–20, 2026 from 8:30AM to 2:30PM) for medical related questions and issues as well as be available to come to campus if needed to administer necessary medication during the program.

Key Responsibilities- Reviewing student medical paperwork
- Contacting parents/guardians regarding any medical issues as needed
- Keeping log of medication and sick calls and providing health supervisor with documentation of administration of medication, first aid, etc.
- Administering medication to participants who have doctor written orders and parental authorization to receive medication
- Advising the health supervisor on medical issues
- Assuring proper secure storage of medication including documented receipt/disposal of medications
- Massachusetts License as a Licensed Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner
- Understanding of vaccination requirements for middle school and high school participants
- Experience with middle and/or high school students

Salary$50/hour for medical record review and contact; $50/day for being on call.
