Responsible for non-metal sourcing and procurement for the business. The role involves negotiating with suppliers, ensuring quality, cost effectiveness and maintaining positive vendor relationships.
- Identify and evaluate suppliers to ensure quality and reliability
- Negotiate favourable contracts, terms and prices with suppliers
- Provide commercial support to the Contract manager
- Manage the full procurement process from end to end
- Take full ownership leading contracts and categories you are assigned
- Manage contracts efficiently and strategically – lead commercial discussions, contract processes, and conduct regular reviews
- Lead categories by understanding requests, targeting the correct supplier selectively by identifying which suppliers can fulfil which type of requests, and ensure proper ownership of enquiries – no delegation to engineers of procurement tasks
- Conduct due diligence with suppliers before engagement – including verifying capabilities, compliance and performance history
- Ensure all deadlines are consistently met, including RFP/RFQ stages and out of contract situations are avoided

Adhere to Procurement Policies and Procedures
Adhere to deadlines set by management and/or the business
Learn and develop knowledge via training courses
Perform supplier evaluation and relationship management tasks on a regular basis
Ensure contractors that carry out work on site are accredited on the Safe Contractor platform before an order is placed
Support Engineering throughout Projects
Resolve all procurement issues – late deliveries, incorrect items etc.
Upload SDS to online chemical management system
Support the Procurement & Warehouse Manager and wider team as required
Cover other members of the team as required due to holidays or absence
Respond to internal queries within 24 hours
Respond to external queries within 48 hours
Take full ownership of all responsibilities within the Buyers role, following through on tasks and decisions reliably.
Always demonstrate strong accountability and urgency in the role
