Our client is a well-established civil engineering and groundworks contractor specialising in highways, public realm and infrastructure schemes. With a strong pipeline of planned and framework works for major highways service providers and local authorities, they are looking for an experienced Site Agent to join their growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive construction professional who enjoys taking ownership of complex projects, leading site teams and delivering high-quality works in challenging live environments.

The Role

As Highways Site Agent, you will take responsibility for the successful delivery of highways and public realm projects from mobilisation through to completion and handover.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will lead site engineers, foremen, gangs, subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, commercially and to programme.

Manage site teams, subcontractors and suppliers, coordinating daily activities and resolving operational issues.
Develop construction programmes and phased delivery plans that minimise disruption to the public, local businesses and stakeholders.
Coordinate traffic management, temporary works, access arrangements, permits and Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders.
Manage NEC4 contractual processes, including early warnings and compensation events.
Maintain accurate contemporaneous records, including site diaries, allocation sheets, photographs and delivery records.
Plan and manage labour, plant, equipment and subcontractor requirements to maximise productivity.
Complete material take-offs, coordinate procurement and manage supplier relationships.
Support cost forecasting, valuations, compensation events and change submissions.
Work closely with Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers to monitor costs and project profitability.
Promote a strong health and safety culture and ensure compliance with CDM 2015, company procedures and relevant legislation.
Ensure environmental, quality and inspection requirements are met and that appropriate records are maintained for handover.
Build strong relationships with clients, local authorities, utilities, subcontractors and members of the public.
Attend progress meetings, report on project performance and proactively resolve issues.

What We're Looking For

You will have proven experience working as a Site Agent on large-scale highways and/or public realm projects, ideally within live public environments.

You should have:

Strong experience delivering highways and civil engineering projects.
Practical experience working under NEC4 forms of contract.
A strong understanding of construction sequencing, phasing and programme management.
Experience managing labour, plant, materials and subcontractors.
Good commercial awareness and an understanding of change management and cost control.
Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
The ability to remain calm, organised and solutions-focused in challenging operational environments.
A proactive approach to problem-solving, risk management and project delivery.
