Play Your Part in Building the Future of UK Energy
Hinkley Point C is one of the largest and most complex infrastructure projects in Europe - a multi-billion-pound nuclear new build that will power six million homes for decades to come.
We are recruiting experienced Welding Inspectors / Field Engineers to join the Quality Surveillance team on site in Somerset.
If you have worked on large-scale infrastructure - Water & Wastewater, Energy from Waste, Biomass, Pharmaceutical, Petrochemical, Chemical, Oil & Gas, Nuclear or major Industrial Construction - and you understand welding from a metallurgy, NDT and standards perspective, this is your opportunity to apply that expertise on a truly safety-critical project.
This is not just inspection.
This is engineering assurance in a nuclear safety environment.
The Opportunity
As a Field Engineer - Welding Inspector, you will:
Perform continuous, notified and planned surveillance of contractor activities
Ensure works are constructed in accordance with the authorised Quality Control Plans
Identify and escalate non-conformance requirements
Contribute to KPIs and proactive quality improvement
Review Inspection & Test Plans and Quality Inspection Records
Ensure no "field decisions" bypass formal design approval processes
Embed and advocate Nuclear Safety Culture across all activities
Work closely with Construction Superintendents and cross-discipline site teams
You will be the technical conscience of welding quality on site.
You'll be looking at:
Structural steel
Pressure systems
Reinforcement cage prefabrication
Civil/mechanical interfaces
Safety critical fabrication environments
And asking the right question at the right time - before an issue becomes a problem.
About You
We're keen to speak with candidates who have:
Experience inspecting welding on large industrial or infrastructure projects
Strong understanding of metallurgy, welding processes and NDT principles
Working knowledge of codes such as RCC-M, BS EN, ASME
Experience with Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), End of Erection Status Reports and quality documentation
A track record of working within structured, high-compliance environments
Qualifications we value:
CSWIP 3.1 (or equivalent) - strongly desirable
CSWIP 3.2 / IWS - advantageous
PCN or equivalent NDT qualification - advantageous
Mechanical Engineering / Materials / Welding background
You must be comfortable in high-pressure environments where quality, traceability and safety are non-negotiable.
What's In It For You
Opportunity to contribute to the UK's most complex and high-profile clean energy project.
Work alongside some of the most skilled professionals in the industry.
Gain exposure to cutting-edge construction and engineering methods.
Develop your career within one of the world's most demanding project environments.
Competitive day rate and long-term contract potential.
If you've built refineries, energy-from-waste plants, pharmaceutical clean facilities, water treatment works or petrochemical units - this is the next level of technical challenge.
