The Role

We are recruiting for an Engineering Maintenance Team Leader to join a well-established FMCG manufacturing business with multiple UK sites. This is a hands-on, electrically biased leadership role
, responsible for leading a small engineering team while remaining heavily involved in day-to-day maintenance and fault finding across the site.

Operating within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, you will ensure machinery uptime, support continuous improvement projects, and maintain high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support a small engineering team on shift
• Manage holiday planning, overtime, and work schedules
• Provide hands-on electrical and mechanical fault finding
• Support and deliver engineering and improvement projects
• Maintain and troubleshoot:
  • 3-phase motors, drives and inverters
  • Pumps, pneumatics and hydraulics
  • Conveyor systems
  • Packaging, thermoforming and extrusion machinery
• Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance
• Remain effective under pressure and tight production deadlines
• Complete maintenance documentation and CMMS entries accurately

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

• Electrically biased maintenance background
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience
• Strong electro-mechanical fault-finding capability
• Multi-skilled mechanical maintenance knowledge
• Electrical apprenticeship or equivalent
• City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 / HNC (or equivalent)
• Manufacturing background (FMCG preferred)

Desirable:

• Experience in fast-moving production environments
• Forces/Armed Services background considered for exceptional candidates

Competencies

• 3 5 years experience within an engineering role
• Educated to HNC level or equivalent
• Proven technical knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines
• Strong problem-solving ability
• Proactive, self-starting approach
• Ability to plan, prioritise and manage workloads effectively
• Computer literate with experience using CMMS systems
• Accurate paperwork and data entry skills
• Strong communication and ability to work cross-functionally
• Willingness to undertake further training and certifications as required

Salary & Benefits

• £26.28 per hour (inclusive of shift allowance)
• Equivalent annual salary: £64,624
• Shift pattern:
  • 4 on / 4 off
  • Rotating days and nights
  • 06 00 / 18 00
• 22 days annual leave
