Role

Project Planner - Nuclear

Vulcain Engineering UK are seeking a Project Planner to join our PMO division, who are providing the client-side professional services for Hinkley Point C (HPC) – a pioneer nuclear new build project in the Southwest of the UK.

This position will sit within the MEH (Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC) Central Planning Team - part of the Project Delivery Organisation (PDO) for the project and will be part of the specialist function that works alongside area management and delivery integration functions.

Some of the main responsibilities of the Project Planner will include:

  • Develop, integrate, and maintain detailed construction schedules in Primavera 6 (P6), across the mechanical, electrical, and HVAC (MEH) disciplines.
  • Ensure the schedules are updated when required to reflect work progress and performance, to an agreed timeframe defined by the Central Controls Team.
  • Collaborate with site teams and contractors, contributing to 16-week lookaheads, 4D planning, and schedule performance tracking.
  • Create fully logic-linked work plans aligned to the Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and utilising approved construction techniques.
  • Assist in the Trend & Change process, including analysis of schedule impact, generating performance indicators and providing feedback on areas of risk and opportunities.
  • Ensure that contractor schedules are produced in accordance with processes and ensure that they align to the forecast position.
  • Co-ordinate and produce schedule reports to a defined reporting cycle.

This is a hands-on, site-based role requiring close collaboration with construction, planning, and logistics teams. It’s an opportunity for you to be an integral part of Europe’s largest infrastructure project in decades – contributing to the UK’s future low-carbon ambitions. The Construction Planner will work in a high-performance culture alongside industry leaders, whilst gaining exposure to innovative tools like 4D/5D planning.

Qualifications
  • Demonstratable experience in engineering or construction planning - in particular on large scale and complex MEH (Mechanical, Electrical & HVAC) packages, during the construction phases.
  • Industry exposure across Nuclear or another highly regulated heavy industry, such as;
Oil and Gas, Downstream, Petrochemical or Pharmaceutical.
  • Knowledge of EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) project environments and integrated planning - preferably throughout the full project lifecycle (inception, pre-FEED, FEED, construction, commissioning).
  • Expert knowledge of Primavera P6 schedule development and progress monitoring.
  • Understanding of site safety culture, and ideally nuclear/conventional safety principles.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate costs/data in a well-structured manner.
  • Confident managing a multitude of stakeholders, including senior leadership, both internally and externally, as well as the ability to challenge and consult when required.
  • You will have indefinite and independent right to work in the UK, due to the high level of security clearance required on several of our UK Nuclear sites.
