Freelance Section Engineer – Bridgwater
£390 Per Day PAYE (Including Holiday Pay)
Contract Until 2029

We are looking for an experienced Section Engineer to join a major infrastructure project near Bridgwater, supporting the delivery of a large reinforced concrete package on one of the UK's largest civil engineering schemes.
This is a long-term freelance opportunity with work currently programmed through to 2029, offering a high level of continuity on a complex and technically challenging project.
The wider development is split across several delivery sections, creating a busy site environment with a varied workload and ongoing engineering challenges.

The Project

The current phase of works is focused on reinforced concrete structures and associated civils activities, including:
 
Large in-situ reinforced concrete pours
Retaining walls and reinforced bases
Formwork, falsework and reinforcement installation
Deep drainage and associated infrastructure works
Heavy foundations and structural concrete packages
Earthworks and temporary works activities  

The Role

As a Section Engineer, you will be responsible for managing a designated section of works, ensuring activities are delivered safely, to the required quality standards and in line with programme requirements.

Key Responsibilities  
Oversee site engineering activities within your work area
Manage day-to-day engineering operations on site
Support and provide guidance to Site Engineers
Ensure quality assurance processes and ITP requirements are followed
Coordinate subcontractors and specialist reinforced concrete teams
Maintain high standards of health and safety on site
Attend progress, planning and coordination meetings
Monitor materials and site readiness to support programme delivery
Maintain accurate engineering records and documentation  All required site equipment and engineering tools will be provided.

About You

This role would suit an experienced Section Engineer or a Site Engineer ready to step into a broader level of responsibility.
You should have experience delivering reinforced concrete and heavy civils works on projects such as:
 
Major infrastructure schemes
Reinforced concrete structures
Bridges, tunnels or large structural packages
Nuclear or energy projects
Water and wastewater treatment facilities
Heavy civil engineering projects  Requirements  
Based within one hour of the Bridgwater area
Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering
Strong background delivering reinforced concrete and heavy civils works
Good communication and organisational skills
Full UK driving licence
Right to work in the UK  Rate & Package  
£390 per day PAYE (including holiday pay)
Long-term contract with work scheduled through to 2029
Major infrastructure project with a substantial programme of works
