We are partnering with a premier Tier 1 technical services and engineering consultancy to recruit a Piping Engineer focused on construction delivery. Operating within an integrated mechanical, electrical, and HVAC framework for the Hinkley Point C (HPC) project, this role is responsible for generating, reviewing, and delivering discipline‑specific Construction Work Packages. This position bridges the gap between engineering design and site installation, offering a detail‑oriented Piping Engineer or experienced site supervisor the opportunity to own complex technical documentation and ensure field crews have precise instructions for “Right First Time” delivery on a landmark energy infrastructure project.
Key Responsibilities- Work Pack Delivery:
Take ultimate accountability for compiling and delivering high‑quality Mechanical & Piping Construction Work Packages, ensuring all technical instructions are robust and clear. - Information Configuration:
Meticulously record and track all engineering modifications, Requests for Information (RFIs), and Field Change Requests (FCRs) within the project's configuration management data systems. - Schedule Contribution:
Collaborate with project controls and planning teams to contribute discipline‑specific logic and sequencing to the master construction schedule. - Scope Definition:
Establish and define precise boundaries for specific mechanical work packages, minimizing interface conflicts between site contractors. - Technical Liaison:
Liaise routinely with internal Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and client engineering counterparts to resolve complex technical constraints. - Compliance Assurance:
Review and verify that all authored engineering documentation complies fully with the latest site works information, construction regulations, and quality standards. - Document Control:
Manage lifecycle updates for all assigned work packages, ensuring they are kept up‑to‑date and periodically reviewed against ongoing design modifications.
- Technical Background:
Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent vocational training alongside robust practical experience in the installation of heavy industrial piping systems. - Industry
Experience:
A proven track record operating within a highly regulated sector;
Nuclear Energy sector experience is strongly preferred, but heavy industrial sectors such as oil and gas, petrochemical, or marine engineering will be considered. - Engineering Level: Demonstrated experience operating and delivering at an Engineer or Senior Engineer level on major multi‑million‑pound construction or infrastructure programmes.
- Software
Competency:
Advanced proficiency in navigating and reviewing complex 3D plant models using Navisworks, alongside strong Microsoft Excel skills. - Vetting & Site Cards:
Must be able to achieve standard baseline security clearance (BPSS or higher) and hold a valid CCNSG Safety Passport (or recognised equivalent industrial safety card).
