Position: Area Planner (Roads and Networks)
We're looking for an Area Planner to be based on site on the Hinkley Point C project in Somerset.

You will be joining the landmark Hinkley Point C (HPC) project-the first new nuclear power station built in the UK in over two decades. Featuring two EPR reactors, HPC will generate 3.26GW of secure, low-carbon electricity for the next 60 years, powering roughly 6 million homes. Beyond its clean energy impact, this mega-project is driving thousands of jobs and delivering lasting benefits to the UK economy.

The Role

As the Area Planner (Roads and Networks), you will play a pivotal role within our Integrated Planning team. This scope encompasses Design, Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, Logistics, Construction, and Commissioning for the Civils, Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC, and Instrumentation & Controls sectors of HPC.

You will be responsible for driving an area-based planning framework, ensuring top-down and bottom-up alignment across all strategic levels (Levels 1 to
5).

Key Responsibilities

Baseline & Schedule Management:
Develop and maintain the schedule baseline Integrated Work Schedule (IWS). Create fully logic-linked work plans aligned with Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) using industry-leading techniques.

Strategic Oversight:
Drive and challenge strategies for the Baseline Schedule project delivery sequence. Enable robust reviews and challenge delivery/schedule reporting that impacts project-level strategic delivery.

Risk & Opportunity Management:
Support the Area Management organisation by ensuring significant risks and opportunities are evidence-based, balanced, and assessed to provide accurate, timely information.

Stakeholder Reporting:
Produce and update focused area planning and schedule reports for key stakeholders in line with defined reporting cycles.

Change Control:
Take accountability for the Trend & Change process within the schedule, including project-level analysis, generating performance indicators, and identifying risks and opportunities.

Supply Chain Integration:
Seamlessly integrate all associated supply chain schedules and planning data while ensuring project scheduling standards and procedures are strictly met.

Collaborative Culture:
Work across organisational boundaries to achieve successful outcomes in line with HPC values:

Information Security:
Ensure all project documents, particularly Sensitive Nuclear Information (SNI), are correctly protectively marked and secured in accordance with compliance policies.

Education, Experience & Skills

What we are looking for:

Qualifications:

A degree (or equivalent qualification) in Engineering, Construction, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.

Industry

Experience:

Proven track record working within a planning team inside a complex, highly regulated industry (ideally nuclear, oil & gas, or major energy/infrastructure projects).

Framework Mastery:
Practical experience applying Integrated Planning frameworks and methodologies to the strategic and operational management of major infrastructure projects.

Technical Expertise:
Expert-level proficiency in Planning and Project Controls technology solutions (e.g., Primavera P6), with experience managing schedule delivery via these software solutions.

Stakeholder Management:
Exceptional ability to collaborate, integrate, and communicate effectively with multiple diverse stakeholders across a complex project ecosystem.
