Job Description & How to Apply Below

What you'll do

As Waste Centre Manager, you’ll take full ownership of waste handling, treatment and disposal operations across the site, ensuring they are delivered safely, compliantly and sustainably. This is a critical operational role, directly supporting production continuity while meeting demanding environmental, health and safety obligations in a COMAH‑regulated environment.

You’ll lead the safe management of all waste streams, including hazardous materials, ensuring compliance with environmental permits, duty of care requirements and the waste hierarchy. You’ll oversee segregation, storage, treatment and transfer activities, embed robust safe systems of work, and ensure waste operations align with site permit conditions, ISO 14001 standards and company expectations.

Working closely with EHS, Operations, Facilities and external contractors, you’ll monitor performance, investigate incidents, support COMAH safety case updates and drive continuous improvement initiatives. You’ll also play a key role in cost control and sustainability—identifying opportunities to reduce waste volumes, improve recycling rates and minimise environmental impact while maintaining operational efficiency.

The team you'll join

You’ll join the Facilities Management function within UK Operations, reporting to the Head of Facilities Management. The role involves close collaboration with production teams, EHS specialists, procurement, external waste contractors and regulators. You’ll also lead and develop onsite teams and contractors, reinforcing strong safety leadership and a proactive compliance culture across all waste‑related activities.

What you'll bring

You’ll bring proven experience managing waste operations in a regulated industrial or manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of hazardous waste, environmental compliance and safety systems. You’ll be confident interpreting legislation, managing inspections and audits, and representing the site to regulators and internal stakeholders.

Strong leadership skills are essential, along with the ability to manage contractors, performance metrics and detailed compliance documentation. Experience working within or alongside COMAH environments is highly desirable, as is a proactive approach to safety, continuous improvement and sustainability. Relevant qualifications such as NEBOSH and WAMITAB are expected, or the ability to obtain them.
