We are looking for a Mechanical Production Engineer

Hours:
Monday - Friday 37.5 hours a week - 9am-5pm but can start earlier and finish earlier.

JDR is recruiting for a Mechanical Production Engineer to work for one of very successful clients in Bridgwater, Somerset.
The roleAs a Mechanical Production Engineer you will be working within a manufacturing environment and your duties will be:
- Define project requirements, including product usage and functionality.
- Design and produce 2D and 3D drawings using engineering design software.
- Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) within the ERP system.
- Ensure products meet specifications, industry standards, and consumer needs.
- Collaborate with the Operations Department to determine manufacturing requirements and processes.
- Participate in the development of manufacturing processes and establish supply chains with key suppliers.
- Assess production costs and develop strategies for cost-effective manufacturing.
- Evaluate the final product for appearance, performance, functionality, durability, and safety.
- Incorporate feedback and make necessary revisions to designs and processes.
- Generate and maintain accurate and up-to-date Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing production processes and practices.
- Experience with pumps, heat exchangers, fans, and pipe sizing.
- Proficient in engineering design software, particularly Inventor, with experience using Vault.
- Solid understanding of design and engineering principles and best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Exceptional time management and organisational abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal teams and external suppliers.
- High attention to detail and a critical mindset.
- Ability to stay updated on advancements in technology and engineering design trends.
- Calm and composed under pressure, with flexibility to adapt to change.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Self‑motivated and capable of working independently or collaboratively within a team.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Engineering‑related qualification (e.g., BEng, HNC, HND, or Bachelor’s degree) in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
