JDO Layout CAD Deputy
Non fixed-term position within Framatome UK’s nuclear engineering team.
Framatome is a global leader in nuclear energy and is expanding its service offerings across the UK. This role will support the Layout CAD Team in the Hinkley Point C project.
Responsibilities- Support the Layout CAD Team Lead by checking the quality of CAD modifications and assigning activities to team members.
- Manage and arbitrate workload, validating activities performed by CAD Designers.
- Validate E3D modifications in validated databases.
- Improve CAD Team competences and skills.
- Modify the E3D and TEKLA 3D models of the two plants for site‑compliant changes.
- Carry out detailed 2D and 3D modelling for all disciplines to respond to site queries.
- Answer or contribute to site requests by providing technical analysis, justification, and liaison with engineering back‑offices.
- Produce technical documents such as equipment location book, layout dummy bedplate drawings, and anchor reviews.
- Support improvement of 3D tools through development of dedicated programs/macros.
- Ensure methods, tools, and processes from back‑office teams are complied with.
- Build strong relationships with back‑office teams in Bristol/Paris and interview Layout CAD team members.
- Report progress, achievements, and challenges to the Layout CAD Team Lead.
- Science, Master’s engineering degree or equivalent.
- Minimum 10 years experience in design/layout in civil work, layout, piping, HVAC, or electrical.
- Deep knowledge of layout rules for nuclear projects.
- Understanding of nuclear power station operation and safety aspects (e.g., flooding, fire, radiological protection).
- Proficiency in 3D design software (E3D, PDMS, TEKLA, Navisworks).
- Experience working in a multicultural environment.
- Knowledge of the HPC project and associated studies/doctrine is an asset.
- English fluent;
French is a bonus.
