Position: Finance Assistant - 35 hrs pw

Are you an organised and detail‑oriented individual with experience in finance or administration? Bridgwater College Academy is seeking a proactive and reliable Finance Assistant to join our team and provide high‑quality financial and administrative support to the school.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong numerical skills and a keen eye for detail to contribute to the efficient operation of our finance function while working in a rewarding educational environment.

Finance Assistant – Bridgwater College Academy Part‑Time, Permanent Anticipated Start:
September 2026 35 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (Term‑Time) Band 4, points 5 to 6, starting at point
5. Actual starting salary: £20,633.02 About the Role

As Finance Assistant, you will support the day‑to‑day financial operations of the Academy, ensuring transactions are processed accurately and in line with school procedures. You will work with colleagues, suppliers, parents, and external agencies to maintain reliable financial records and provide efficient administrative support to the finance function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Processing purchase orders, invoices, payments, and staff expenses
  • Reconciling supplier statements and resolving queries
  • Recording and reconciling income from trips, lettings, and other activities
  • Supporting the management of bank accounts and petty cash
  • Monitoring outstanding balances and assisting with debt recovery
  • Liaising with suppliers regarding orders, deliveries, and invoices
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and filing systems
  • Responding to finance‑related enquiries and providing general admin support
About You

We are looking for a well‑organised and detail‑focused individual with experience in finance or administration. You will have a good understanding of basic accounting processes, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage your workload effectively. You should be able to work independently, use your initiative, and maintain confidentiality at all times.
