Healthcare Assistant (HCA) – North Petherton, , Somerset
Symphony Healthcare Services is seeking a permanent, part‑time Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join the North Petherton Surgery, part of the North Sedgemoor Primary Care Network. You will work under the direct supervision of the Practice Nurse and support care delivery according to specific practice guidelines and protocols.
Job Summary- 16 hourly vacancies for permanent, part‑time HCA.
- Part‑time, flexible working; schedule agreed during interview.
- Pay rate: £12.65 to £12.95 per hour, starting salary based on experience.
- Perform new patient and NHS health checks.
- Conduct prediabetes reviews, give lifestyle advice and make referrals within PHCT/local services.
- Carry out point‑of‑care testing for cholesterol, HbA1c, and INR.
- Record ECG and monitor blood pressure, issuing HBPM per practice policy.
- Phlebotomy.
- Support other clinical tasks as required – see attached full job description.

Person SpecificationEssential Knowledge &
Skills:
- Sound factual knowledge of the field of work.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision.
- Strong organisational skills.
- IT literate, willing to work flexibly across sites.
- Good understanding of confidentiality.
Desirable Knowledge &
Skills:
- Experience using EMIS Web.
Essential
Qualifications:
- English & Maths GCSE (or equivalent).
- NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care.
- Care Certificate.
Desirable
Qualifications:
- HCA Training.
- Qualified in phlebotomy.
- NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care.
Essential
Experience:
- Previous experience as an HCA / Phlebotomist or equivalent.
- Carry out clinical and technical duties within established protocols.
Desirable
Experience:
- Experience in primary care or similar NHS setting.
