We are currently looking for dedicated and reliable Shunter and Yard Operative to join our production team at ABP Langport.

As a Shunter and Forklift Operative, you will play a key role in supporting the efficient operation of the site, ensuring the safe and timely movement of vehicles, trailers, and materials across the plant. You will be responsible for carrying out shunting and forklift activities in line with safety procedures and operational requirements, helping to maintain the smooth running of site operations.

Working as part of the wider team, you will contribute to achieving productivity targets while upholding high standards of safety, efficiency, and compliance.

• Operate Shunter and Forklift as required according to SOP’s, ensuring that all trailers
• are moved to the correct area and working as per procedures
• Ensure factory perimeters and external areas are maintained in an orderly and tidy
• manner at all times
• Ensure all non-food deliveries correspond with appropriate paperwork
• Carry out all vehicular activities in a manner which complies with site Health and
• Safety requirements
• Ensure CAT 1 and CAT 3 materials are disposed of correctly and that appropriate
• paperwork is correctly completed and retained
• Prepare trailers for production use in compliance with organisation operating
• procedures
• Load and unload lorries, ensuring goods are checked in accordance with
• organisational operating procedures
• Monitor bone-exit conveyor and ensure trailer is moved as required to prevent
• disruption to production or spillage of waste material
• Responsible for ensuring all maturation trailers are cleaned and working correctly

A proactive approach, using your own initiative and demonstrating commercial awareness, is essential.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter who can work independently while also contributing positively as part of a wider team. You will be flexible and responsive to changing business requirements, resilient under pressure, and committed to providing efficient support to operational teams. Previous experience in a similar environment is advantageous, although a willingness to learn, develop, and continuously improve is equally important.
