HPC Jobs Service is partnering with Bouygues Travaux Publics (TP) and Laing O'Rourke under the joint venture name BYLOR to deliver civil engineering works at Hinkley Point

Quality Assurance Manager Organisation Information

BYLOR is a joint venture providing large‑scale civil construction for Hinkley Point C, with a record of innovative practices and a focus on high‑quality delivery.

Purpose of the role

Support the Central Quality Lead by establishing and overseeing the implementation of the quality management arrangements, measuring effectiveness, and supporting improvement projects to optimise quality delivery throughout the project.

Key responsibilities and specific accountabilities Audits
  • Manage internal and external audit schedules covering all BYLOR delivery scopes and Tier 2s.
  • Conduct the majority of audits with support from SMEs and other auditors.
  • Coordinate and support colleague training through internal and external auditor development.
  • Track audit reports and findings to full closure using digital reporting systems such as Field View and Qlik.
  • Support BYLOR’s CARES accreditation.
QMS
  • Update sitewide documentation, provide guidance, review and comment on updated project deliverables (e.g., Quality Plans, QMS, Inspection & Test Plan procedures, templates).
  • Ensure alignment with ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Conduct regular reviews of all Tier 2 surveillance plans, onsite and offsite.
  • Coordinate or oversee surveillance of Tier 2s, supporting planning and resourcing.
  • Contribute to site‑wide quality training and promote a quality culture across the project team.
  • Deliver quality fundamentals training to new and existing quality team members.
  • Identify improvement opportunities, define actions, and follow up implementation.
  • Act as key contact for external professional development of quality staff and for parent company learning exchanges, including attendance of quality briefings.
  • Promote management policies, objectives and KPIs.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a Quality Engineer, Quality Manager or Quality Surveillance professional with a strong understanding of civil engineering works.
  • Certified ISO 9001 Lead Auditor.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels, including presentations to project teams, suppliers and client organisations.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to multi‑task and plan simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with digital reporting tools such as Qlik Sense and field recording tools such as Field View.
